How to pay a South Dakota speeding ticket online? ›

You must know your ticket citation number or case number to pay online. Visit https://ujsportal.sd.gov/Portal. Fines and costs can be paid online for the full amount prior to the due date.

The Brown County Clerk of Circuit Courts now accepts credit or debit card payments through AllPaid.com, a third party agency. Payments an be made using Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Credit or Debit cards. Payments may be made online or by phone at 1-888-604-7888, 24 hours a day.

Contesting a Traffic Ticket in South Dakota

The State Court System

A court of last resort, often known as a Supreme Court, is usually the highest court. Some states also have an intermediate Court of Appeals. Below these appeals courts are the state trial courts. Some are referred to as Circuit or District Courts.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit hears appeals from the district courts in the states of Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. There are nine federal district courts located within the Fourth Circuit.

According to the state's official website, the fee schedule is: 1–5 mph over limit: $97.50. 6–10 mph over limit: $117.50. 11–15 mph over limit: $137.50.

Criminal cases are available, unless sealed, via UJS' Public Access Record System (PARS) from 1989 to present.
