Yale College, the undergraduate branch of Yale University, offers instruction in more than 80 subjects spanning the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. Its signature residential college system and expansive extracurricular programs sustain a supportive community of students, staff, and scholars.
Yale is organized into fourteen constituent schools: the original undergraduate college, the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and twelve professional schools. While the university is governed by the Yale Corporation, each school's faculty oversees its curriculum and degree programs.
Yale College is the four-year undergraduate college which is the form in which Yale was originally founded. Yale University consists of the same college and a number of post-graduate schools, Yale Law School, Yale Medical School, Yale Graduate School, Yale School of Management, &c, &c.

Yale's Residential Colleges
Before arriving on campus, each first-year student is randomly assigned to one of fourteen residential colleges, giving Yalies a built-in community from the moment they arrive. Most Yale students quickly become convinced that their residential college is the best.
In 1701 the Connecticut legislature adopted a charter “to erect a Collegiate School.” The school officially became Yale College in 1718, when it was renamed in honor of Welsh merchant Elihu Yale, who had donated the proceeds from the sale of nine bales of goods together with 417 books and a portrait of King George I.
In almost all the major ranking factors, Harvard has the upper hand except for the faculty/student ratio. Here, Yale is ranked at 4th while Harvard is at 40th. This aside, Harvard ranks first in academics and graduate employers while Yale is at ninth.
All of Yale's undergraduate financial aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Yale meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students regardless of citizenship or immigration status. This includes undocumented students living in the US, with or without DACA status.

Why is Yale so special?

About the Buttery
Each residential college at Yale has a buttery. It is a late-night cafe with cheap food for purchase and fun basem*nt games like foosball, ping-pong, and billiards.
Indeed, scenes from Rory and mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) traveling to Harvard's Massachusetts campus were actually filmed at UCLA in Los Angeles, whereas her first visit to Yale's Connecticut campus was shot at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., according to Yale Alumni Magazine.
Alcohol is forbidden in first-year suites and entryways on campus. In addition, no alcoholic beverages may be served at organized or private functions on the Old Campus, except at functions confined to rooms occupied solely by upper-level students or when authorized by the Yale College Dean's Office.
To my ear, He's a Yalie is a straightforward catchall, less quaint than He's an Eli but less aggressively sportif than He's a Bulldog, and as socially acceptable as a basic black dress. Or navy blue blazer. The Oxford English Dictionary definition is simply: "A student or graduate of Yale University."
For instance, in the Wall Street Journal rankings, Harvard is ranked the nation's top college overall, which means that it's also the highest-ranked Ivy League school. On the other hand, Yale is ranked fourth nationally, which is second highest among Ivy League schools.
Five U.S. presidents have attended Yale: William Howard Taft (Class of 1878), Gerald Ford (Law School, 1941), George H.W. Bush (Class of 1948), William Jefferson Clinton (Law School, 1973), and George W. Bush (Class of 1968). Taft also served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (1921–31).
Undergraduate tuition rates at Harvard and Yale for 2021-2022 are $51,904 and $59,959, respectively.
Is Stanford or Yale better?
Yale used to be the second best university in America but now lags behind Stanford. Why? There used to be a time when if you wanted to be “anyone” you had to be either a doctor or a lawyer. Yale excels in both of these disciplines.
Princeton University's world ranking for 2020 was 6th and 13th by THE and QS News respectively. Whereas Yale University was ranked at 8th and 17th position by THE and QS News respectively among world universities.
