Terraria - Is Hardmode scary?

The title says most of my question - after defeating the Wall of Flesh in Terraria, is the resulting Hardmode scary?
When I say scary, I don't mean scary as in, scared of it being too hard, I mean scary as in, "WHOA THAT THING LOOKS SCARY *looks away from screen* PLEASE SCARY THING KILL ME SO I DON'T HAVE TO SEE YOU". So, can any of you please tell me? I really don't want to see anything too scary while playing in the Hallow or Underground Crimson or something.
If it helps, the only things I am really too scared of in the game are Snatchers and Man Eaters, which are getting less and less scary to me, and don't stop me from doing anything, and Bone Serpents, which don't prevent me from going into the Underworld, but that's only really because they are rare, and I don't see them too often, although I still shake when I see one.

Yeah, you're initially going to die a lot. What you should do is go to your corruption or crimson, and use the pwnhammer to smash at least twelve altars. That will distribute the hardmode ores around your underground. If you're a melee character, go underground in the ice biome and farm the armoured vikings. Eventually, one will drop an Ice Sickle, a fantastic weapon for early hardmode. If you're a mage, go to the undergound hallow and grab 30 crystals and 15 light souls to make a crystal storm. If you're ranged, just mine the ores and try to get a good repeater.
Also, if you go to the hallow, mine some pearlstone and distribute it around your base, to stop it from getting corrupt.#4Aug 30, 2014

It's not really that bad as long as you know what you're doing. Like DaBomb said mine the altars so that you can get alot of ore. Besides that just make sure all of your NPCs are safe and you're pretty much golden. Are you playing with friends? If you are they make the game so much easier.

No, I admit I only skimmed over it. It depends how easily scared you are. There aren't any jumpscares, but if you're afraid of man eaters and bone serpents, then yes, there are lots of potential scares to be had. Stuff you'll get used to.

Well, you have to consider... It's an oldschool Super Mario world type game. That pixel size doesn't look scary really at all. Now if you play Silent Hill, you are in for a scare.
To me, horror games need to look real, not have that size of dimensions. They couldn't bring that out in games like that.

Hardmode is just that: hard. It's not scary, but expect to die alot until you get at least the first tier armor for Hardmode. Bosses are definitely a step up from Normal Mode (maybe except the first one).

Its as scary as pixelated monsters can get. I wouldn't really say scary, just eerie and spooky. Not anything that would make you scream.
Only scares people who "don't believe in ghosts."

It isn't scary. It's only hard for player from pre-Hardmode (same with post-Plantera dungeon and pre-Plantera player).
And VERY IMPORTANT: don't destroy Demon/Crimson Altars faster than 1 on 20 seconds - Wraiths... (it was my first dead in Hardmode :P)
