Oregon State’s 2024 season came to an end Sunday night when Kentucky held the Beavers to two hits and used a seventh-inning run to win 3-2 and claim the Lexington Super Regional.

Kentucky advances to the College World Series for the first time in school history. The Wildcats won two games in the best-of-3 super regional, holding the Beavers to a collective three hits. Here is how it unfolded Sunday:

NINTH INNING

OSU: Kasper bounces to first, who is out after Hogan reaches the bag first. Trosky hits a bullet to third, but Daly makes a diving stop, then narrowly throws out the OSU third baseman. Guerra walks. SEVENTH INNING

OSU: We have a base hit alert. Kasper hits a sharp single to left, the Beavers first hit of the game, and the second in 15+ innings of Super Regionals. Talt pinch hits, and sacrifice bunts Kasper to second. Pitching change to Robert Hogan. Kasper advances to third on a wild pitch. Guerra walks, runners at the corners for Travis Bazzana. Major blunder alert upcoming: Smith strikes out, but the ball gets past Weber. McCarthy takes off from second and goes all the home to score, as Keljo falls asleep and fails to cover home. SECOND INNING

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Oregon State Beavers and the Kentucky Wildcats will play Game 2 of the Lexington Super Regional Sunday at Kentucky Proud Park.

The game will air live on ESPNU.

The Beavers are facing elimination in the best-of-three series after suffering a humbling 10-0 loss in Saturday’s opener. The Wildcats overwhelmed Oregon State in every aspect of the lopsided defeat, mashing 10 hits, including four doubles and a home run, while handing the Beavers their first shutout of the season.

Along the way, Oregon State committed two errors, tossed four wild pitches, and put just three runners in scoring position.
